Starz has hired former HBO veteran Dave Baldwin as executive VP of programming planning, assuming some of the responsibilities that will be vacated by departing exec Stephen Shelanski.
Baldwin, a 31-year veteran of HBO who exited the pay cabler last year, will oversee research and program planning across all of Starz’s linear, on-demand and online channels. Those responsibilities previously fell under Shelanski, the executive VP of programming acquisitions who exited Starz earlier this week after an 18-year run.
“I am very pleased to bring my long-time colleague, Dave Baldwin, onto the Starz executive bench,” said Starz CEO Chris Albrecht, to whom he will report. “Dave has an incredible amount of experience and a proven track record in program planning and research.”
Albrecht and Baldwin previously worked together at HBO, which has seen several execs move to the rival pay cabler including John Penney, executive VP of strategy and business development, and managing director Carmi Zlotnik.
