Cabler lines up multiple sampling opportunities

Starz is making sure its newest series, “Magic City,” receives as much sampling as possible before its official April 6 debut.

Pay cabler will offer the premiere episode at 11 p.m. March 30, immediately following the season finale of “Spartacus: Vengeance.” Beginning the next day, a handful of satcasters and cable providers, as well as the net’s own website, will telecast the first three “Magic City” episodes.

“This bold sampling initiative will give ‘Magic City’ viewers a unique opportunity to experience the new series,” said marketing topper Nancy McGee. “By offering up the first three episodes, viewers may immerse themselves in the plot.”

Starz, which is producing the eight-episode skein itself, has a lot riding on “Magic City.” Gangster story is set amid the lavish lifestyles of South Beach in 1960s Miami.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olga Kurylenko and Danny Huston star. Exec producers are creator and writer Mitch Glazer and Geyer Kosinski.
