Skedding exec shifts from ABC to NBC

Steve Kern follows Jeff Bader as Peacock builds exec ranks

NBC is beefing up its scheduling ranks, bringing over longtime exec Steve Kern from ABC.

Kern, who will serve as the Peacock’s senior VP of program planning and scheduling, will be responsible for planning and directing the schedule for NBC’s primetime scripted, alternative and latenight fare.

Kern’s arrival comes only a few months after his boss, Jeff Bader, moved over from ABC to NBC.

“Steve’s experience in scheduling, combined with his broad knowledge of the network television business, will make him a valuable addition to the NBC team,” said Bader, who is president of program planning, strategy and research.

At ABC since 2000, Kern helped launch dozens of series, including the Alphabet’s Wednesday night comedy block, which features “Modern Family,” “Suburgatory” and “The Middle.”
