Baseball series to officially premiere new season July 11
In the wake of the controversy surrounding Miami Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen, Showtime will sneak preview the second season of baseball reality series “The Franchise” April 21 before its official season premiere July 11.Guillen was recently suspended by the Marlins for comments he made expressing admiration for Cuban leader Fidel Castro. The manager’s penchant for becoming a lightning rod was one of the reasons Showtime picked the Marlins, who also offer storylines including a new stadium and such star players as Hanley Ramirez and Jose Reyes. Episodes of the show will be 30 minutes except for the July season premiere, which will be an hour. Nine episodes in all are scheduled, including the sneak preview.
