Showrunners to develop new projects for 2013

Comedy vets Cathy Yuspa and Josh Goldsmith have inked a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV.

The duo, who are married, had long been affiliated with Sony Pictures TV. The pair first rose to showrunner status while working on Sony’s CBS laffer “The King of Queens,” and they went on to create the ABC sitcom “Big Day” and Fox comedy “Til Death” for the studio.

Twentieth toppers Gary Newman and Dana Walden have been hoping to bring Yuspa and Goldsmith into the Fox fold for some time.

“They really fit the bill of what we’re looking for,” said Newman. “They’re excellent showrunners, they have the maturity and the leadership and the experience to run a set and attract talent. And they’re terrific writers.”

Newman said the plan is for Yuspa and Goldsmith to join one of 20th TV’s many comedies while they develop their own projects for the 2013 development derby.

Yuspa and Goldsmith are repped by ICM and attorney Ken Richman.
