Comicbook vet fields yakuza, secret agent vehicles with 20th, U TV
Comicbook scribe Ed Brubaker has set up drama projects at Fox and NBC.
Project for 20th Century Fox TV and Fox entitled “Rising Suns” will be penned and exec produced by Brubaker, with Kyle Killen (“Awake”) also exec producing. The stylized crime thriller centers on an American yakuza underboss who is fighting for his life and becomes involved with the female FBI agent who’s hunting him.
Universal TV and NBC have bought an untitled secret agent project, written and exec produced by Brubaker. Project focuses on a femme agent-in-training working in her agency’s cleanup crew. Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan will also exec produce.
Brubaker, known for superhero comicbooks like “Batman,” “Daredevil” and “Captain America,” adapted his graphic novel “Coward” for the bigscreen, with David Slade attached to helm. Sierra/Affinity is onboard to finance the pic, with Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell at Electric City Entertainment producing.
Brubaker is repped by UTA and Anonymous Content.
