Exec will handle development and current programming

Kate Schumaecker has joined Universal Cable Prods. as veep of development and current programming.

Schumaecker will supervise dramas and comedy series for the studio that air on sister cabler USA Network, as well as handling skeins currently on the air.

Schumaecker joins UCP from Teri Hatcher’s ISBE Prods. As VP of the ABC-affiliated shingle, Schumaecker developed projects for ABC and HBO, among other outlets.

“She has great taste, strong relationships and, with her experience on the producing side, she really knows how to nurture talent,” said Richard Rothstein, UCP’s senior VP of development and current programming.

UCP is home to a growing roster of cable skeins including USA’s “Covert Affairs” and “Fairly Legal” and Syfy’s “Alphas.”
