Sanagustin new head of current at Universal TV

Exec comes to studio from Universal Cable Prods.

Universal Television has tapped Chris Sanagustin as head of current programming.

In the newly created post, Sanagustin will oversee all dramas and comedies produced by U TV. Sanagustin transitions to the role from her previous position as senior VP of current and development programming at Universal Cable Prods. She reports to U TV exec veep Bela Bajaria.

Before working at UCP, Sanagustin was a programming exec at Syfy, where she handled scripted series such as “Warehouse 13,” “Eureka” and “Alphas,” along with upcoming series “Defiance.”

Bajaria said Sanagustin “has demonstrated an impressive talent for nurturing shows on air and helping them succeed and grow throughout her career at UCP and Syfy.”

Sanagustin also served as senior veep of current programming at the WB.
