Revelations Ent. looks to expand in TV

'Through the Wormhole' showunner to head unscripted division

James Younger has been tapped to head up a newly created unscripted unit at Morgan Freeman and Lori McCreary’s Revelations Entertainment.

Younger at present is showrunner and exec producer of the Revelations-produced series “Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman” for cabler Science. At Revelations, he’ll head the Factual Prods. division.

Along with producing Discovery films “The Science of Sex Appeal” and “Anatomy of a Shark Bite,” Younger has served as showrunner for nonfiction skeins including History’s “Strange Rituals,” National Geographic Channel’s “Science of the Bible” and Discovery’s “Surgery Saved My Life.” The filmmaker also wrote and directed “The Planets” while at BBC.

“James’ vision and leadership is the spirit of ‘Wormhole’ and is one of the reasons it has become such a critical and ratings success,” said Freeman and McCreary. “We are thrilled to hand the reins to James to create even more electrifying and entertaining content in television and beyond.”

Revelations has been active in the film biz, shepherding numerous projects for Freeman, and it has done a lot of work on developing digital content and cutting-edge technologies. With “Wormhole” becoming a signature show for Science, the company is looking to build a bigger business in TV.

“Morgan, Lori and the team at Revelations share my passion for (TV) and I am thrilled to be working with them,” Younger said.
