Reality rallies for NBC Tuesday

Scripted shows elsewhere suffer, hitting season lows

NBC’s Tuesday trio of reality series grew week to week, helping to send shows on the competition — including the CBS dramas and Fox’s ”Glee” — to season lows. The Peacock and Fox edged out CBS for the night among young adults.

According to preliminary national estimates from Nielsen, NBC’s ”The Voice” results show (3.5/9 in 18-49, 8.9 million viewers overall) was the night’s top show in 18-49, growing about 10% week to week and opening up a wider advantage over ABC’s competing ”Dancing With the Stars” results show (2.3/6 in 18-49, 13.0 million viewers overall). Also for NBC, both ”The Biggest Loser” at 8 p.m. (2.2/7 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) and ”Fashion Star” at 10 (1.8/5 in 18-49, 4.6 million viewers overall) gained about 10% week to week as well, with ”Fashion” challenging for the 18-49 lead in its timeslot.

Elsewhere, Fox’s ”Glee” returned with a solid second-place showing at 8 p.m. (2.7/8 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall), behind only CBS’ ”NCIS” (3.1/9 in 18-49, 17.3 million viewers overall), with both shows at season lows as spring fever continues to keep some viewers away from watching programs on the night they air. ”NCIS” was the night’s No. 1 scripted show in 18-49 and the top draw overall in both adults 25-54 (4.6/12) and total viewers, while ”Glee” easily led its hour in persons 12-34 (2.8/8).

Following ”Glee” on Fox were ”New Girl” (2.7/7 in 18-49, 5.3 million viewers overall), which placed second in its slot and rebounded from last week’s low, and ”Raising Hope” (1.9/5 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall), back in its regular 9:30 slot.

And after ”NCIS” on CBS, spinoff ”NCIS: Los Angeles” hit a low (2.3/6 in 18-49, 12.8 million viewers overall), as did 10 p.m. rookie ”Unforgettable” (1.8/5 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall), which was edged out in 18-49 by the season finale of ABC’s ”Body of Proof” (1.9/5 in 18-49, 10.2 million viewers overall).

Opposite ”NCIS” and ”Glee” in the 8 o’clock hour on ABC, ”Last Man Standing” (1.7/5 in 18-49, 6.7 million viewers overall) hit a low, and ”Cougar Town” was down as well (1.5/4 in 18-49, 5.0 million viewers overall).

CW aired a repeat of ”90210” (0.3/1 in 18-49, 0.8 million viewers overall) and an original ”Ringer” (0.5/1 in 18-49, 1.2 million viewers overall).

Preliminary 18-49 averages for the night: NBC and Fox, 2.5/7; CBS, 2.4/7; ABC, 1.9/5; Univision, 1.5/4; CW, 0.4/1.

In total viewers: CBS, 13.2 million; ABC, 9.7 million; NBC, 6.7 million; Fox, 5.6 million; Univision, 3.8 million; CW, 1.0 million.
