Oxygen breathes life into five projects

Salsano, Roth among exec producers of developing skeins

Oxygen continues to make strides in the original programming realm, developing five unscripted shows for next year’s lineup.

From the creator of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” comes “Gorgeous & Guilty!,” a crime show investigating stories of beautiful femmes wrapped up in criminal scandals. SallyAnn Salsano will exec produce for 495 Prods.

“Fat Girl Revenge” will feature women confronting bullies from their past after dramatic weight losses and makeovers. Reality show is produced by 3 Ball Prods. with JD Roth, Todd Nelson, Brant Pinvidic and Adam Kaloustian exec producing.

Female comics are the focus in “Funny Girls,” a show from Brownstone Entertainment with exec producers Drew Brown and Bob Gillan. “Funny Girls” will follow the comediennes as they navigate the male-dominated comedy biz and their personal lives.

“Shotgun Weddings” centers on expectant parents under the gun to have a fairytale wedding before their baby is born. Skein is produced by BermanBraun, with Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun, Gene Stein and Chris Cowan exec producing.

“Heart and Soul,” from Endemol and exec producer Alex Duda, spotlights an exclusive Miami matchmaking agency.

Cori Abraham, senior veep of development at Oxygen, describes the new programming as “unique and noisy.”

“Our development team has done a phenomenal job of continuing to build the network’s slate with diverse and innovative shows that reflect our audience,” said Abraham, adding that these shows “truly capture every emotion of our young, female viewers.”
