TV vet Rob Weiss to oversee programming, marketing, PR

Ovation has tapped Robert Weiss as chief creative officer. In the newly-created position, Weiss will oversee the creative direction for Ovation’s content across the cabler’s platforms and will oversee sectors including programming, development, marketing at Ovation.

Weiss joins the cabler from EQAL, where he served as the digital media company’s chief operating officer. Under his leadership, EQAL’s revenue nearly doubled this year.

“Rob knows how to build entertainment brands made for the 21st Century, and he has that rare combination of both business and creative acumen to grow that brand into a multi-platform powerhouse. I have no doubt that Rob will bring energy and new thinking to Ovation,” said Charles Segars, CEO of Ovation.

Before working at EQAL, Weiss held executive posts at cable nets including VH1, FX and Fuse. He founded Parkwood Media Ventures, and also logged ten years as co-CEO of shingle Buccieri & Weiss Entertainment.
