Pair team to bring Thai gameshow format to U.S.
Gamer allows contestants with a common obsession the chance to battle for the title of “hardcore fan” in areas ranging from motorcycles to Barbies. Interests covered on the show include sports, music, history, science and pop culture.
Workpoint Entertainment Public Co. has produced more than 450 episodes of the skein in Thailand. The Thai format is already distributed worldwide by Small World IFT.
“With hundreds of episodes already produced for the international market, we know that this has proven success in attracting a broad audience with richly diverse contestants,” said David Stanley, who heads Octagon’s new production division.
Stanley recently joined the management-production company with “a mandate to draw on resources and relationships to bring productions to the company,” he said.
