Kathy Kelly-Brown to oversee communications for newly formed unit

NBCUniversal News Group has bolstered its exec ranks with the appointment of key lieutenants to chairman Pat Fili-Krushel.

Kathy Kelly-Brown has been tapped senior veep of communications. She had most recently been senior VP of corporate communications and media relations for NBCUniversal.

K.C. Sullivan has been hired as senior veepee and CFO. Sullivan transitions from CNBC where he also served as CFO.

Also on board NBCU News Group are Elisabeth Sami as senior veep of strategy and business development, and Joanne O’Brien as senior vice president of human resources.

The umbrella division for the Peacock’s news assets was formed in July when NBCU chief exec Steve Burke moved fili-Krushel out of a corporate administrative role and into the chairman’s post. The creation of NBCU News Group came on the heels of MSNBC’s final split with Microsoft, which spurred NBC to rebrand its online news presence.
