NBC is set to stage a new live version of “The Sound of Music” with executive producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron, the network announced Friday.
Tuner would recreate the original Broadway musical as opposed to the film version starring Julie Andrews. No airdate or casting has been set. “There is no more talented and creative producing team than Craig Zadan and Neil Meron to bring Rodgers and Hammerstein’s final – and most beloved – collaboration to network television in this groundbreaking live telecast,” said Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment. Zadan and Meron’s credits include NBC’s “Smash,” as well as cinematic tuners “Hairspray” and “Chicago.”NBC to restage ‘The Sound of Music’
