NBC Sports Network turns on ‘Lights’

Cabler launches highlights show beginning Aug. 13

NBC Sports Network is turning on “The Lights.”

Cabler will launch a new morning highlights show beginning Aug. 13. Without an on-camera host, Program will air two hours at 7 a.m. ET. The format will be presented as repeatable 20-minute segments in which scores and replays from the previous day’s games will be offered.

NBCUniversal net is using the London Olympics as a launching point for “The Lights,” hoping auds who watch the Games on NBCSN will stay on as regular viewers after the Olympic flame is doused.

” ‘The Lights’ will serve as a catalyst for our new programming lineup, and will quickly provide sports fans all of the scores and highlights they crave as they start their day.”said Jon Miller, president of programming for NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network.

Several years ago sports behemoth ESPN began a live edition of its morning “SportsCenter” instead of replaying editions of the telecast from the night before.

NBCSN will debut newsmagazine show “Sports Illustrated” tonight and will relaunch “NBC Sports Talk” on Aug. 14.
