Get ready for music contest overload this November, with NBC announcing Monday five hours of coverage for the month’s first full week. This is in addition, or perhaps in response to, Fox’s decision to sked five hours of “The X Factor” over a similar stretch.NBC is prepping a three-night “Election Fever” event, with its five hours for the week of Nov. 4 giving viewers the chance to vote for the first time this season. There will be no Tuesday episode that week due to the net’s coverage of the presidential election, but the Peacock is adding two hours on Wednesday (from 8 to 10) and another hour on Thursday (8 to 9). The Wednesday and Thursday hours will go head-to-head with Fox’s “X Factor,” which is airing in its regular time. “X Factor” is also airing a two-hour seg on Sunday, Nov. 4 — its first installment after a World Series-dictated hiatus. Both “The Voice” and “X Factor” are the top-rated entertainment series on their respective nets. though neither figures to benefit from their head-to-head showdowns.
