Nat Geo makes exec hires

Owens brings aboard reality vets to boost programming

New National Geographic topper Howard T. Owens is putting his executive team in place.

The formerly Reveille managing director has hired Alan Eyres and J.T. Ladt as senior veeps of programming and development, respectively. Both will be based in Los Angeles.

New Gotham hires are Lynn Sadofsky as director of production and development, and J.C. Mills as director of development.

Ayres comes to the cabler from Discovery, where he was a VP in development and production. Ladt arrives from shingle Renegade 83, where he served as co-head of development and helped to set up series at various nets including Discovery, Spike and VH1.

Sadofsky was director of development and an exec producer at Planet Green and Discovery Fit & Health. Mills was VP of business development and acquisitions for Zodiak Rights.

In a previous hire, Hamish Mykura was brought aboard as exec VP and head of international content for Nat Geo Channels Intl.

Nat Geo, which is looking to make a bigger splash with its original programming, is based in Washington, D.C.
