Murphy to receive Paleyfest Icon Award

Event will take place Feb. 27 at org's BevHills headquarters

Ryan Murphy has been named recipient of the first Paleyfest Icon Award.

The creator of “Nip/Tuck,” “Glee,” “American Horror Story” and “The New Normal” will be feted at the Paley Center on Feb. 27 as a kickoff to the annual two-week fest that will run March 1-15.

As for the programming scheduled for the William S. Paley Television Festival, “The New Normal” and “American Horror Story” have been added to the slate. Previous shows announced were “The Newsroom,” “Once Upon a Time” and “Revolution.”

The full lineup for the 30th Paleyfest, to be held once again at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills, will be announced Jan. 9.

Said Paley Center president-CEO Pat Mitchell on Murphy’s award: “Each of his series has been a game changer in the medium, and he continues to inform the cultural conversation.”
