On staff on an interim basis since February, Rita Mullin has been named exec VP of programming and development at OWN.
Mullin joined the cabler after coming over from Discovery Fit & Health, where she oversaw all aspects of programming, production, development, marketing and communications. She has been at Discovery for 16 years and helped developed such series as “Jon & Kate Plus 8″ and “19 Kids and Counting.” Since arriving at OWN, Mullin has helped shape “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s” and is overseeing upcoming series “Married to the Army: Alaska,” “Staten Island Law,” “Six Little McGhees” and “Life with La Toya,” as well as projects in development. “Rita seamlessly joined the OWN team and has been a fantastic asset in helping to develop entertaining and brand-defining programming for the network,” said president Sheri Salata.
