Cabler gives U.K. series a Stateside adaptation

MTV’s Brit import “Inbetweeners” will debut at 10:30 p.m. on Aug. 20.

Comedy series looks at high schoolers who are in-between the jocks and the nerds and have to figure out how to navigate the social hierarchy.

“Inbetweeners” was adapted for its Stateside revamp by Brad Copeland, who exec produces with Aaron Kaplan, along with Damon Beesley and Iain Morris ¬ – the creators of the U.K. series. Pilot was directed by Taika Waititi.

Show, which will get a global launch on MTV’s international nets in January, stars Joey Pollari, Bubba Lewis and Zack Pearlman.

As a lead-in for the premiere, Viacom cabler will debut the new season of Rob Drydek’s “Ridiculousness” at 10 o’clock.
