Cabler's newest series draws 1.8 million Thursday night
MTV’s official premiere of “I Just Want My Pants Back” drew 1.8 million viewers Thursday night.
Immediately following the 11 p.m. airing of the pilot, MTV aired the skein’s second episode and that drew 1.2 million.
The pilot, which was exec produced and directed by Doug Liman, originally aired in August immediately following MTV’s popular Video Music Awards. With that strong lead-in, “Pants” garnered 5.1 million viewers.
MTV’s newest series, produced by MTV and Universal Cable Prods. and starring Peter Vack and Kim Shaw, will regularly air at 11 p.m. Thursdays. It’s based on the novel of the same name by David J. Rosen, who wrote the pilot. David Bartis exec produces with Liman and Rosen.
While reality series “Jersey Shore” and “Teen Mom 2” are currently the highest-rated shows on the network, cabler is looking to balance out the programming portfolio with more scripted fare, including “Teen Wolf” and “Awkward” — both of which are coming off their freshman seasons and will be returning later this year.
Upcoming scripted series include British import “The Inbetweeners,” “Underemployed” from creator Craig Wright (“Dirty Sexy Money”) and “Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous,” starring comedian Bo Burnham.
