LONDON — MBC Group has acquired the format of talent show “The Voice” for delivery over multiple platforms in the Middle East and North Africa region.Deal was inked with rights-holder Talpa and Sony Pictures Television Arabia, which reps Talpa formats in the region and will co-produce the show in its local adaptation. Auditions for “The Voice” are being organized in various countries in the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Kuwait, Tunisia, Lebanon and Morocco. The show will broadcast from MBC’s studios in Beirut, Lebanon. Ali Jaber, group TV director, MBC Group, said: “Talent shows have positively affected the TV viewing habits, patterns and trends in the region, while further enhancing the family viewing experience and raising the levels of engagement with TV content, through social media and other platforms.” “The Voice,” which airs on NBC in the States, has been licensed to more than 45 broadcasters, and plays in some 140 territories.
