Lorre receives Ustinov Award at Banff

Canadian-based TV fest runs June 10-13

Prolific writer and exec producer Chuck Lorre will receive the Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award at the upcoming Banff World Media Festival.

Lorre, whose current state of CBS shows — “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Mike & Molly” — are all hits, is based at Warner Bros. His previous series include “Grace Under Fire,” “Dharma & Greg,” “Roseanne” and “Cybill.”

Director James Burrows, who is a longtime colleague of Lorre as the two have worked together for decades, received the Ustinov honor last year.

The fest, which is nestled in the Canadian Rockies and features plenty of TV talent, runs June 10-13.
