Lionsgate TV inks deal with R.J. Cutler

Producer already working on drama pilot 'Nashville'

R.J. Cutler has inked a first-look development pact for scripted programming with Lionsgate TV.

Deal expands Cutler’s relationship with Lionsgate, where he’s already working as an exec producer of the ABC drama pilot “Nashville,” penned by Callie Khouri for Lionsgate and ABC Studios.

“R.J.’s interest in expanding his activities in scripted programming meshed perfectly with our desire to continue working with him beyond ‘Nashville,’ ” said Lionsgate TV Group prexy Kevin Beggs. “He’s an extremely creative and experienced producer and we’re looking forward to developing other projects together as we continue to expand our television business.”

Cutler at present is also producing the docu “The World According to Dick Cheney” for Showtime. He’s known for the feature docus “The September Issue” and “The War Room.”
