Cabler increasing scripted dramas
Lifetime, which continues to delve into scripted fare, has ordered pilots of “The Secret Lives of Wives” and “Witches of East End.”
“The Secret Lives of Wives,” from Warner Horizon, delves into four marriages and how the women in those relationships deal with their spouses and friends. Project, inspired by author Iris Krasnow’s book, came to the cabler from writer Jill Gordon, who exec produces with Dan Lin and Jennifer Gwartz.
Based on the Melissa de la Cruz novel, “Witches of East End” centers on a mother and her two daughters who are the family’s next generation of witches. Maggie Friedman wrote the pilot and will exec produce with Erwin Stoff. Fox 21 will produce.
Following the success of Jennifer Love Hewitt-starrer “The Client List,” femme-skewing net is trying to up its drama quotient. Lifetime recently ordered series “Devious Maids,” from “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry.
