With Switchover, will reach 40 million homes in Italy, France

ROME — French media conglom Lagardere Active and Italy’s Switchover Media have set up a distribution platform for kiddie product with a reach of more than 40 million TV homes in the two countries, and plans to expand to other European partners.

Deal was announced Sunday at the MipTV mart.

Lagardere Active is Gaul’s leading youth-themed TV player with three channels, including Canal J and Gulli, which also airs in Russia.

Italy’s rapidly expanding Switchover Media is the second Italian tyke broadcaster, also with three channels, K2 and Frisbee, both on DTT, and GXT on Sky Italia.

“In a rapidly evolving market, thanks to terrestrial digital, the alliance with Lagardere marks a strategic step towards establishing a pan-European network of TV companies that can compete as equals when it comes to acquisitions and co-productions,” said Switchover Media topper Francesco Nespega.

“The affinity of our brands and the strong pull we have in our respective markets, will allow us to pursue the most interesting high-profile properties,” said Lagardere Active CEO Antoine Villeneuve.
