Jean Reno stars in Paris-set crime drama
BERLIN — German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has picked up the Paris-set Jean Reno crime series “Jo” by U.S. showrunner Rene Balcer (“Law & Order: Criminal Intent”).
It secured the English-language show, formerly titled “Le Grand,” for its German-speaking free TV channels.
In the series, which began shooting this summer, Reno portrays Jo St. Clair, a detective in Paris’ elite Criminal Brigade, who investigates the city’s most challenging murder cases.
The procedural will also highlight the French capital’s most iconic locations, including the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, the Catacombs and Place Vendome.
Co-starring in the series are Tom Austen (“The Borgias”), as Jo’s rookie partner; Jill Hennessy (“Crossing Jordan”), as a friend and adviser; and Hollywood newcomer Heida Reed (“One Day”), as Jo’s estranged daughter, Adele.
Lagardere Entertainment’s Atlantique Prods. is producing the series with Gallic broadcaster TF1 also on board.
Balcer is serving as exec producer, and writing and producing the show with co-creators Franck Ollivier and Malina Detcheva.
ProSiebenSat.1 sales division Red Arrow is handling world sales for the show, which has no air date yet.
