Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes said Wednesday that the conglom will “have an announcement soon” regarding the question of whether Jeff Zucker will be taking the reins of CNN.
Bewkes, asked about the prospect at the Business Insider’s Ignition conference, didn’t speak further to Zucker’s potential role but defended CNN, praised its election-night coverage and said it’s not just in business for ratings. “We don’t try to win the night. … Like HBO. It’s not what we’re after when we’re trying to pick a show for HBO,” Bewkes said at the conference in Gotham. “Did you just say you don’t care if no one is watching it?” asked moderator Henry Blodget. “As a matter of fact a lot of people are watching it,” said Bewkes. He acknowledged the net needs to improve but at the same time keep faith with its mission.Jeff Bewkes talks CNN, Zucker prospects
