TOKYO — Dentsu, Japan’s largest ad shop, is partnering with the TV Asahi network and production giant FremantleMedia to co-produce variety programs and other content.
Using Dentsu and FremantleMedia’s sales channels, they plan to sell the shows in Europe, North America and Asia after they air on TV Asahi. The three partners will then divide the revenues.
Dentsu is seeking new revenue streams abroad given limited prospects for expansion at home. However, Dentsu’s profits gained 4% to $225 million in the October to December quarter, boosted by the recovery of the advertising market after the March 11 disaster and growth in orders from its Dentsu America arm.
