James Parriott in tune with ‘Nashville’

Drama vet to serve as showrunner on ABC drama

James Parriott has joined the ABC drama “Nashville” as exec producer and showrunner.

The drama vet is coming off showrunning stints on ABC’s “Missing” and USA Network’s “Covert Affairs.” His past credits also include ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy.”

“Nashville,” from Lionsgate TV and ABC Studios, revolves around two generations of country music superstars and is toplined by Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere. Series was created by Callie Khouri, who exec produces with pilot helmer R.J. Cutler.

“Nashville” is among the new season’s most anticipated dramas. The series was warmly received by media buyers last week at ABC’s upfront presentation in Gotham.
