‘Idol’ to stick with two-hour Wednesdays

Fox to push 'Daughter' to summer

Fox is sticking with two-hour Wednesday editions of “American Idol” for the remainder of the season, the network announced Thursday.

Series was scheduled to revert to 90-minute episodes beginning April 4. Keeping two-hour episodes means sitcom “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” will not move to the 9:30 p.m. time slot; Fox intends to bring the series back in the summer.

Expansion follows a similar move made by NBC to expand “The Voice” for its results show. The extra half-hour should help Fox’s overall ratings, but isn’t good news for ABC’s new sitcom, “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23,” which is scheduled to begin Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m. beginning April 11.
