Miniseries stars Sigourney Weaver as Elaine Barrish, a divorced former first lady and newly appointed secretary of state who throws herself into her job when her marriage falls apart and a presidential bid comes up short.
The six-episode project, from Greg Berlanti and Warner Horizon Television, is set to air this summer. If there is strong viewer turnout, the cabler may turn “Animals” into a full-fledged series.
Hinds will play former president Bud Hammond, the ex-husband of Barrish. The veteran British thesp currently appears in bigscreen pic “John Carter,” and his TV work includes HBO’s “Rome” and “Above Suspicion” in the U.K.
Berlanti, who wrote and directed the first episode, exec produces with Laurence Mark.
