Wednesday was a big programming day for HGTV, even by the Scripps cabler’s prolific standards. The DIY net is has greenlit and renewed 12 series for release in 2012, along with 20 specials. Flagship skein “HGTV Design Star” was among the renewals.
Highlights from the slate include “Selling London,” a spinoff of the net’s home-seeking series “Selling N.Y.”; “White Room Challenge,” which makes one popular “Design Star” challenge into a full show; and “Price this Place,” a real estate-themed gameshow.
Also on the slate are renovation shows like “Home Wreckers” and “Going Yard,” in which experts try to help homeowners with their neglected properties. The net is also looking for recognizable personalities to boost its appeal: “Going Yard” will be hosted by “The Bachelorette” runner-up Chris Lambton, and LeAnn Rimes’ home will be the subject of an ep of an “Interiors, Inc.” seg.
Specials include “My House Goes Disney,” about a family whose house enshrines Disney merch in every corner.
