Hernandez joins Universal TV as senior VP

Exec arrives at studio from Ryan Seacrest Prods.

Universal TV has tapped Fernando Hernandez as senior VP of alternative development, a newly created position at the studio.

In his new post, Hernandez will oversee all of Universal TV’s reality development and production. He will report to Meredith Ahr, exec VP of alternative programming at NBC Entertainment.

Hernandez transitions to Universal from Ryan Seacrest Prods., where he most recently served as exec VP of development and production, overseeing development of unscripted programming that includes “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and “Shahs of Sunset.” Hernandez has also exec produced TV Land’s “She’s Got the Look,” ABC Family’s “Venus & Serena: For Real” and MTV’s “Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.”

“Fernando has delivered many hit shows while at Ryan Seacrest Prods.,” said Ahr. “He also has an invaluable working knowledge of the business as a producer and director.”
