Shonda Rhimes won the Golden Gate Award on Saturday as GLAAD completed the presentation of its 2012 Media Awards.
“Grey’s Anatomy,” which Rhimes created and exec produces for ABC, also received the GLAAD Media kudo for drama series at the ceremony, held at the Marriott Marquis in San Francisco. “Days of Our Lives” earned the honor for daily drama and “Las Aparicio” for top novela.
In addition, Facebook received a special recognition award, Wells Fargo a corporate leader nod and Huffington Post writer Max J. Rosenthal the honor for digital journalism article for “Adam and Pete: Love in a Time of War.”
The GLAAD Media Awards celebrate representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities and their surrounding issues. Honorees at previous 2012 awards, presented March 24 in New York and April 21 in L.A., included “Beginners” and “Modern Family.”
