Pair to head acquisitions division, replacing Duda

Showtime has promoted both Gary Garfinkel and Kent Sevener to co-head the pay cabler’s acquisitions department.

Opening at the top of the division was made by the retirement of Matthew Duda, who retired from the net after 31 years of service.

Garfinkel and Sevener will be responsible for the evaluation, negotiation and acquisition of feature films, docs, stand-up comedy, specials and music programs for all of Showtime Networks’ services. They will also oversee the company’s output arrangements with studios that include Dreamworks, Summit Entertainment, Weinstein Co., IFC Films and CBS Films.

Garfinkel will be based on Los Angeles while Sevener will remain in the net’s Gotham office. Each will report to president David Nevins. Sevener will also report to Gwen Marcus because he continues in his current duties on the business and legal affairs front.
