Latenight laffer moves to 11:30 to make room for 'Brand X'
FX is ordering a second cycle of weekly latenight talker “Totally Biased With W. Kamau Bell.”
Cabler, which is looking to make a bigger imprint in latenight, had originally given “Totally Biased” six half-hour episodes. That commitment has now increased to seven.
Show will be back at 11:30 p.m. Oct. 11. After airing at 11 o’clock on Thursdays in its first cycle, “Totally Biased” landed in a new timeslot in order to make room for the return of “Brand X With Russell Brand.”
Live-plus-7 ratings for the first episodes were 564,000 total viewers and 352,000 in the 18-49 demo.
“Totally Biased” is exec produced by Bell, Chris Rock, Chuck Sklar and Keri Smith Esguia.
“What we’ve seen through five shows only reinforces our belief that Kamau is one of the sharpest, smartest and funniest young comedians in the business,” said Nick Grad, FX’s exec VP of original programming. “He brings an interesting perspective to latenight TV and has proven to be very comfortable in this format.”
In each episode, Bell riffs on recent news events before bringing on a live guest in the later portions of show.
Oct. 11 also marks the season debuts of FX laffers “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and “The League.”
