Fremantle makes global MMA sales

'Bellator Fighting Championships' head to India, Latin America, Israel, Norway

Mixed martial arts series “Bellator Fighting Championships” has been sold by FremantleMedia Enterprises in multiple countries, including India.

Fremantle signed a five-year global rights deal with Bellator last year (Variety, Nov. 7). India’s Big RTL Thrill, Turner in Latin America (for syndication to more than 48 countries across the region), Ananey Communications in Israel and TV2 in Norway have acquired the rights.

“We could see there was an enormous appetite for mixed martial arts with audiences around the world,” Fremantle global CEO David Ellender said. “These new deals highlight just how popular the brand is becoming with fans outside of the U.S., and we expect it to continue building momentum throughout 2012, both on and off screen.”
