Programming topper spearheading group's push into original series

Fox has given exec veep stripes to the programming maven at its fast-growing Fox Intl. Channels division.

Sharon Tal Yguado has been upped to exec veep of scripted programming and original development, in recognition of her role in expanding the group’s roster of original programming through an innovative strategy of global day-and-date launches for high-profile series across its 250-plus channels in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

Fox Intl. Channels has made a big mark in with acquired programs such as “The Walking Dead” and “Touch.” The promotion formalizes her role in spearheading original programming for the channels with an exec team based out of L.A. (Daily Variety, June 13). FIC is also actively partnering with outside production entities as a co-producer on such series as Showtime’s “Dexter,” CTV’s “The Listener,” and the upcoming BBC/Starz drama “Da Vinci’s Demons.”

Tal Yguado, a nine-year veteran of FIC who was previously senior veep of scripted programming, reports to FIC prexy and CEO Hernan Lopez.

“Sharon has been instrumental in defining FIC’s global programming strategy and securing strong content for all our channels,” Lopez said. “As FIC pushes into original development, I am confident that her expert eye and keen sense for breakthrough drama will yield some very exciting projects in the near future.”

Among the projects Tal Yguado’s team is preparing to shop to U.S. outlets in the near future is a fantasy drama from scribe Michael Davis (“Pulp”), a serial killer vehicle from scribe Daniel Arkin (“Future Sociopaths”), a project from producer Caryn Mandabach (“Doctored”) and one with Circle of Confusion (“Outcast”).
