Pair moved up to senior VP's of original programming

As Starz continues to expand its slate beyond theatrical releases, the premium cabler has upped Marta Fernandez and Karen Bailey to senior vice presidents of original programming.

Pair will oversee new development and current productions, reporting to Starz managing director Carmi Zlotnik.

Fernandez has been at the net since 2007 and Bailey since 2006. Fernandez, who previously served as veep of originals, has helped lead development and production of the “Spartacus” franchise, “Boss” and the cabler’s upcoming original skeins.

Bailey initially worked as a feature producer for the net, working on projects for external cablers such as Syfy, Lifetime and IFC. Most recently, Bailey served as VP of original programming, overseeing “Magic City.”

“Our programming efforts are becoming increasingly more ambitious,” said Zlotnik. “Marta and Karen have not only been instrumental in building up Starz in the early days of its entrance into originals, but they will be a driving force for our future original programming expansion as well.”

Starz recently bowed the second season of its original series “Boss” and has announced the development of sci-fi thriller “Incursion” and “Vlad Dracula.”
