‘Fashion Star’ crew seeks union contract

Workers on strike until repped by IATSE

Crew members at NBC reality TV series “Fashion Star” have begun a second day of picketing over the lack of a union contract.

Producers halted shooting Saturday, Sunday and Monday as about 75 crew members and supporters picketed at Hollywood Center Studios.

Crew members are seeking to be repped by the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees.

IATSE organizer Vanessa Holtgrewe told Variety that the producers have requested a meeting for Monday afternoon to discuss a contract for “Fashion Star.”

“The IA will continue to picket the shooting locations of ‘Fashion Star’ until the crew has a union contract,” she added.

IATSE successfully organized reality TV series “The Biggest Loser” in 2010.

“Fashion Star” includes Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos as judges. Show is produced by Electus, Magical Elves Prods. and 5X5 Media.

Representatives for NBC had no comment. Reps for the producers could not be immediately reached for comment.
