PARIS — Lagardere-owned Europe Image Intl. has closed format deals on Canal Plus’ comedy series “Bref.”“Bref” is a vfx-packed chronicle of a single, unemployed 30-year-old French guy, played by stand-up comedian Kyan Khojandi, who co-created the series with scribe Bruno Muschio. “Bref’s” format was optioned by Spain’s Shine, Italy’s Picomedia and Bananas, plus Canadian net TV1. Shine, Picomedia and Bananas will shop the format adaptation to local broadcasters. Emmanuelle Bouilhaguet, head of sales at Europe Image Intl., said, “Deals on ‘Bref’ illustrate broadcasters’ growing appetite for format acquistions, which, among other things, allow networks to limit risks.” “Bref” is produced by Harry Tordjman at Paris-based My Box Prods. The skein has been very popular in Gaul and has attracted an online community of more than 3 million Facebook friends and nearly 300,000 Twitter followers. “Bref” wrapped its third and final season on July 12.
