Spain's win generates substantial increase from 2008 contest
Spain’s dominating win over Italy in Sunday’s UEFA Euro championship game drew 4 million viewers to ESPN. That made it the most-watched Euro championship soccer match on any English-language TV network.The 2008 final between Spain and Germany garnered 3.7 million viewers. Among the 31 live matches telecast by the cabler, an average of 1.3 million viewers tuned in — up significantly from four years ago when 859,000 was the average for each match. Cities that drew the most viewers for Sunday’s final were New York and Miami-Fort Lauderdale.
