‘Emily Owens’ canceled by CW

Network doesn't give full-season order but will air 13 episodes

“Emily Owens, M.D.’ is putting down her scalpel at the CW.

Medical dramedy from CBS Television Studios will not receive a nine-episode back order. The 13th episode of the series will wrap production next week, and all episodes will eventually air.

Show was created by Jennie Snyder Urman, who exec produced with Dan Jinks.

Starring Mamie Gummer as a doctor in training, “Emily Owens, M.D.” launched on Oct. 16 to avoid the September fall season crush, but poor ratings were cemented at the get-go and never improved.

Series drew an average of 1.4 million viewers through six episodes and a 0.4 rating in the 18-49 and 18-34 demo.

The median viewer age for the series was 52 years old, which is much higher than what the networks sells to advertisers.

Top show for the CW this fall has been “Arrow,” which has already received a full-season order.
