Music mogul will exec produce project based on record biz
FX has bought an hourlong drama script from writer Sidney Quashie and music mogul Dr. Dre.
Project explores the present-day music business in Los Angeles, and how that interacts with the city’s criminal activity.
Quashie and Dre will exec produce while Daniel Schnider, of Dre’s shingle Crucial TV, and Brad Bertner will serve as co-exec producers.
Dre, who launched Crucial Films in 2007 at New Line, started his career as a member of the influential rap group N.W.A. and was a co-owner of Death Row Records. His current label is Aftermath Entertainment.
