Disney reshapes Southeast Asia team

Malhotra, Malhotra, Wodtke take new roles

BEIJING — The Walt Disney Co. has announced a new senior management team in Southeast Asia, reporting to the group’s regional m.d. Robert Gilby, as part of a broader restructuring of the group’s operations in the region.

In November, Disney announced the creation of an integrated Disney South East Asia organization with Gilby as m.d., reflecting the region’s growing importance.

The new appointments see Amit Malhotra named g.m. of media distribution and sales, while Natasha Malhotra has been named g.m. of branded media and content, and Nicholas Wodtke is appointed veep of strategy and business development.

“We’re focused on accelerating the growth of the Disney brand, delivering a rich mix of content and leveraging technology to make our content more compelling and reach more audiences,” Gilby said in a statement.

Earlier this month, News Corp. and the sports entertainment group ESPN, in which Disney has a controlling interest, said they had agreed for News Corp. unit ESS to buy out ESPN’s 50% stake in Asian joint venture ESPN Star Sports.
