‘Dexter,’ ‘Homeland’ set ratings highs

Both Showtime series readying for Sunday's season finales

One week from their season finales, dramas “Dexter” and “Homeland” drew series highs Sunday night and recorded best-ever ratings for any Showtime series telecast.

Michael C. Hall starrer “Dexter,” which likely benefited from the timeslot departure of AMC’s “The Walking Dead,” garnered 2.6 million viewers, topping the previous 2.5 million record set three years ago. Season to date, “Dexter” is averaging 6.1 million across all platforms, repeat telecasts and DVR usage.

The 2.3 million who watched “Homeland” topped the 2.2 million record that was set one week earlier. “Homeland,” which airs at 10 p.m. after “Dexter,” stars Claire Danes, Damian Lewis and Mandy Patinkin.

The skeins end their second and seventh seasons, respectively, this Sunday. The eighth season of “Dexter” will likely be its last.
