David Morrissey has been added to the cast for the third season of “The Walking Dead.”
He will play the Governor, a character from the Robert Kirkman graphic novel on which the net’s top-rated show is based. The Governor is the leader of Woodbury, a small settlement of survivors, and becomes the chief antagonist for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his group.
Morrissey, a U.K. native, has appeared in many television programs back in Britain in a career that dates back to the early 1980s. Credits include “State of Play,” “Meadowlands” and “Blackpool.”
Production on the 16-episode third season of “The Walking Dead” begins this spring in Atlanta.
