The CW and producer Dan Lin are developing a drama series based on the docu “Book Club,” which has been making the fest circuit rounds this year.
Nina Colman (“Gigantic”) is on board to pen the script about a young woman in Gotham who starts a book club with three friends, her mother and grandmother. Series will use a “book of the week” framework to examine the lives of club members. Lin is exec producing for Warner Bros. TV along with Colman and Lin Pictures’ Jennifer Gwartz. The indie docu tells the story of eight women who have been members of a book club in Washington, D.C., that has lasted more than 60 years. It was produced by Hope Hartman, who is head of PR for ABC Entertainment. “Book Club” played the Sarasota Film Festival in April.CW signs up for ‘Book Club’
